This article is a best attempt to explain how Bostrom Network’s energy works after some confusion was expressed by crypto community members, myself included.
Bostrom is billed as the canary network for Cyber, which is coming next year according to developers. The infrastructure for Cyber is provided by the Bostrom network.

Here is my experience after buying Bostrom and proceeding to cyb.ai on a quest to add a cyberlink and make an avatar:
On Osmosis DEX I swapped out some OSMO for about 600 million BOOT. After acquiring the BOOT I staked it to earn approx. 100 percent rewards. While checking rewards, I noticed I had been given an equal amount of HYDROGEN.
Heading to the cyb.ai website, I had a hard time figuring things out. After stumbling across “Investmint,” I realized I would need some secondary coins to get anything done on this project. Investmint can be found under “HFR” in the menu.
I played with the Investmint sliders until I was happy swapping some hydrogen for one volt. I made a note that my Hydrogen would be locked up for a time period of my choosing. I went back to the “My Robot” page and saw my power bar had nearly filled. It looked like I was ready to start using Bostrom.
I uploaded a photo and approved the transaction to create an avatar, but was greeted with an error message: “Neuron has zero power.” To make matters worse, I saw my power bar had drained down to about half.
Looking at the Investmint page again, I saw I had no energy. Using Investmint once more I swapped hydrogen for an amp which gave me one watt of ENERGY. A formula popped out at me just then:
VOLTS x AMPS = ENERGY
Went to “My Robot” and created an Avatar. Success. Saw my power bar drain a bit and decided to add a cyberlink to My Robot. That transaction was successful and I started to see the implications of what Bostrom can do for a decentralized Internet.
The routing power feature found under “GRID” appears to be a way to assign others on the network some of your spare energy so they can rank higher in search results. This seems like a powerful use of energy and the network. Alternatively, if I needed more power to post more news articles, I could ask the community for it so I could post more cyberlinks.
Note about hydrogen: Whatever you lock away in Investmint you will not be able to sell as it takes hydrogen to unlock your BOOT. Keep that in mind when choosing a lock-up period.
My rewards seem to be the same even after locking half of my hydrogen so this is a form of liquid staking.
This article only covers how to get what you need to interact with Bostrom and does not delve into how cyberlinks or rankings actually work. That will need to be covered in a follow-up article.
